History & tradition

Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is in East Fort in Thiruvananthapuram. Vishnu is worshipped here as Padmanabha, reclining on Anantha. Kerala Tourism describes a combination of Kerala and Dravidian architecture, with murals and work in stone and bronze. The district administration notes that the original consecration cannot be dated with certainty. Accounts involving sages and references in sacred texts belong to the temple’s devotional tradition. This is the Thiruvananthapuram shrine, distinct from Ananthapura Lake Temple in Kasaragod.
