Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple
The East Fort shrine of reclining Vishnu, with Kerala and Dravidian architectural traditions.
Azhimala Shiva Temple stands beside the coastal cliffs near Vizhinjam. Its sea-facing setting and the large Gangadhareshwara sculpture are its best-known features. Kerala Tourism describes the concrete sculpture as 58 feet tall and credits the artist P. S. Devadathan. The image presents Shiva bearing Ganga in his hair, an expression of devotional tradition. The local panchayat records work on the sculpture beginning in 2014 and its public opening on 31 December 2020; this dates the sculpture, not the origin of the shrine.
