Panchang & sidereal positions

We bundle Astronomy Engine 2.1.19 (MIT license) with the site. Geocentric apparent Sun, Moon and planet vectors are transformed to the true ecliptic of date. The sidereal correction is an approximate Lahiri ayanamsa: 23.857092333° + 1.396042° × T + 0.000308° × T², where T is Julian centuries from J2000. This is not a full Swiss Ephemeris implementation. Results are intended for exploration within 1900–2100, not certification of a ceremony time.

Tithi divides Moon–Sun elongation into 30 parts; karana divides it into 60. Nakshatra divides the sidereal Moon’s longitude into 27 parts; yoga divides the sum of sidereal Sun and Moon longitudes into 27 parts. Values are evaluated at sunrise. Ending times are found by searching forward and refining the first change. Sunrise and sunset use the library’s sea-level rise/set model, including atmospheric refraction; local terrain and weather are not modeled.

Indian city presets use the modern UTC +05:30 offset. Custom coordinates and offsets must be supplied manually; historical timezone and daylight-saving rules are not automatically resolved. A date without a normal local sunrise and sunset returns no result.

Birth chart, Dasha & Sade Sati

The birth chart shows approximate sidereal positions, mean lunar nodes and whole-sign houses from the calculated eastern ascendant. Birth-chart latitudes are limited to ±66°. It does not calculate divisional charts, KP cusps, doshas or interpretations. Vimshottari mahadashas follow Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury for 7, 20, 6, 10, 7, 18, 16, 19 and 17 years. The birth Moon’s progress through its nakshatra determines the elapsed portion of the first period; a year is 365.2425 days. The first timeline begins before birth to show that balance.

Sade Sati checks whether Saturn is in the sign preceding, containing, or following the selected natal Moon sign at the chosen instant. It does not calculate transit date ranges. These traditional classifications are not predictions of events.

Daylight planner

Sunrise to sunset is divided into eight equal parts. Rahu Kalam is assigned to part 8 on Sunday, 2 on Monday, 7 on Tuesday, 5 on Wednesday, 6 on Thursday, 4 on Friday and 3 on Saturday. The remaining parts are unclassified, not declared auspicious. This is not a complete personal muhurat engine.

Numerology

Pythagorean letters repeat 1–9 from A to Z; reductions retain 11, 22 and 33. Chaldean groups are 1: AIJQY, 2: BKR, 3: CGLS, 4: DMT, 5: EHNX, 6: UVW, 7: OZ and 8: FP, with single-digit reduction. Vowels are A, E, I, O and U; Y is treated as a consonant. Only A–Z English spellings or transliterations are accepted. Life path adds all digits of the birth date and retains 11, 22 and 33. Mobile/vehicle tools add digits directly and convert letters with Pythagorean values, then reduce to one digit. These explicit conventions may differ from other schools.

Your information

This section covers browser-based tools only. For accounts, bookings, astrology PDFs and photo analysis, read the site-wide Privacy Policy draft.

These tools make no API calls and do not send your inputs to our booking server. Calculations remain in memory unless you choose Save. Reports, journal notes, japa counts and the home checklist are stored in this browser’s local storage, which is not an authenticated or encrypted account. Anyone using this browser profile can see them. Reports and notes can be deleted individually. Printing a report or exporting a journal saves your own copy. Clearing browser data removes local records. We keep at most 50 reports and 200 journal notes.

The separate puja-request service uses a server and shares booking details with the fulfilment partner only under its booking form’s consent. It is not part of the local tools.

Regional traditions, calculation models and birth-time uncertainty can produce different results. Use the method shown here consistently and confirm ritual-specific requirements with your priest.
